Blog - Posterior Uveitis With Vasculitis
20 year old male patient , gardener by occupation came on 9/6/2024 with chief complaints of diminished vision in left eye for 5 days. He gave history of fever 10days prior to eye symptoms. On examination best corrected visual acuity was 6/9 in right eye and 6/36 in left eye. Anterior segment was within normal limits. Vitreous cavity showed vitritis with vitreous cells in both eyes. Both eyes retina showed hemorrhages with perivascular sheathing and sclerosis in periphery which was more in the left eye than right eye. Right eye macula was normal. Left eye macula showed cystoid macular edema.
Patient was diagnosed as both eyes Posterior Uveitis With Vasculitis and was advised uveitic lab profile (systemic blood investigations) and started on topical steroids. Patient had toxoplasma IgM and IgG antibodies positive which suggests active toxoplasma infection. He was advised and underwent left eye intravitreal injection ozurdex and clindamycin on 14/6/2025. Patient was also started on tablet BactrimDs and oral steroids. On 21/6/2025 1 week post injection his left eye edema showed signs of resolution
