Blog - Dimunition of vision in both eyes
54 year old male presented to prime retina eye care with dimunition of vision in both eyes since past 4 months. He has a history of uncontrolled diabetes since 2 years but on treatment.
On examination his best corrected visual acuity was 6/60 in his Right eye and 6/12 in his left eye. Anterior segment examination was normal with nuclear sclerosis grade 1 cataract with central posterior subcapsular opacification in both eyes. Fundus examination showed fibrovascular proliferation at the disc and periphery along with detaching hyaloid and hard exudates at the macula. Few sclerosed vessels were present suggestive of Advanced Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy in his Right eye, while his left eye fundus examination revealed mild vitreous hemorrhage along with internal limiting membrane folds at macula and sclerosed vessels suggestive of High risk PDR and was advised for combined cataract and vitrectomy with membrane peeling and fluid air exchange tamponade for his Right eye and pan retinal photocoagulation in his left eye. His postoperative vision had improved from 6/60 to 6/24p in his Right eye post surgery.
