Blog - Ruptured Retinal Artery Macroaneurysm
A 42 year old healthy female patient with no systemic risk factors came with sudden diminision of vision in left eye . Her vision in right eye was 6/6, left eye has counting fingers ½ metre .Her retinal examination showed left eye hemorrhage at various levels at macula (pre retinal, sub ilm, subretinal blood ) secondary to ruptured retinal artery microaneurysm. Systemic evaluation showed high blood pressure which was not diagnosed before . Anti hypertensives were started and she underwent left eye vitrectomy with ILM peeling surgery . Post operatively her vision improved to 6/9.

Symptoms :
- Asymptomatic
- Decrease of vision
- Metamorphopsia
- Floaters
- Acute loss of vision
Treatment :
- Observation
- Laser photocoagulation
- Intravitreal Antivegf injections
- Vitrectomy surgery
